Chasetown FC see off Hednesford Town to book Staffordshire Senior Cup final spot

Chasetown FC produced a top drawer performance to see of local rivals Hednesford Town to set up a date with Stoke City in the final of the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

The Scholars started brightly and perhaps should have scored early on when Ryan Wynter fired wide from close range.

But Chasetown deservedly took the lead midway through the half when Wynter fired past Crane after a Jack Langston pass.

Mitch Piggon missed a close range effort due to a late bobble in the sandy goalmouth, but any fears that the Scholars would regret that miss were dispersed.

Just before the interval slick passing opened up the Hednesford backline and Joe Thomas drilled low past a stranded Crane.

Next goal was crucial though if Hednesford were to stage a comeback, but it went to Chasetown as Langston netted goal 23 for the season with a deflected free kick.

With the away support in fine voice Chasetown put the icing and cherry on the cake with a fourth goal from the returning James Dance.
