Visitors to the Whittington site on May 1 will get the chance to find out more about key events in history.

A spokesperson said: “Our very own ‘Monty’ will be visiting the site and may even deliver one or two of his famous rousing speeches.

“Our resident World War One tunneller will be in the trenches, demonstrating breathing apparatus, listening devices and more.

“There will also be the chance to expand your knowledge of Victorian medicine – and a little bit of fashion too – with the ladies of Timehealers.”

Visitors will also get the chance to find out more about the Home Guard and hear from a British redcoat about the wars against Napoleon.

A number of military vehicles will be on site, as well as radio controlled tanks and a collection of weapons ready for a hands on inspection.
