New exercise class for the over 60s launches at the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital in Lichfield

A new exercise class for the over 60s has been launched in Lichfield.

The Samuel Johnson Community Hospital is hosting the FABS – flexibility, aerobics, balance and strength – sessions to help keep residents healthy.

The classes have been designed in partnership with the centre for healthy ageing research at the University of Birmingham.

Exercise instructor Cat Stuart, who will be leading the exercise class, said: “These classes are ideally suited to the more mature exerciser because they are gentle, require no work on the floor and are related to activities of daily living, such as getting out of chairs, climbing stairs and keeping balanced.

“The exercises can be easily adapted to suit all levels of ability by being done while seated, standing with chair support or free standing.”

The classes cost £4. For more details call Cat on 07973 819629 or pick up a leaflet from the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital reception desk.
