Drayton Manor Park to reopen after death of 11-year-old schoolgirl

Drayton Manor Park will reopen tomorrow, bosses have confirmed.

The theme park has been shut since the death of 11-year-old Evha Jannath on Tuesday (May 9).

The schoolgirl was visiting the attraction on a school trip when she fell from the Splash Canyon rapids ride. She was flown to Birmingham Children’s Hospital by air ambulance but died shortly after arrival.

The park has been shut since while investigations into the incident took place.

But Drayton Manor has said it now plans to reopen tomorrow.

In a statement, bosses said: “The terrible incident on Tuesday has left a family grieving and we continue to offer our deepest thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of Evha Jannath.

“Whilst the Helath and Safety Executive and police authority carry on with their important work, we will reopen Drayton Manor Park on Saturday. We continue to offer support to all those affected, including colleagues, and will provide all necessary assistance to the relevant authorities.

“The Splash Canyon water ride will not be reopened at this time.”
