Among those already confirmed to appear are Mock the Week regulars Gary Delaney and John Robins, Live at the Apollo star Patrick Monahan, X Factor favourite Rebekah Ryan and local bands Venkman, Blank Parody and The Strumtroopers.

A spokesperson said: “A fringe festival worthy of the name simply has to look at the world of alternative as opposed to the mainstream, has to stage the unexpected as opposed to the expected, has to mix the unusual together as opposed to the usual – in other words, it needs to be just different.

“Venues will host diverse live music and there will also be DJs strutting their stuff.

“There will be dancers and dance groups, magicians, street magic, gospel choirs and classical musically influenced performers mingling with excerpts from stage musicals – and cheerleaders too with their specially devised Fringe Cheer.

“It really will be just different.”

The festival will also be represented at the Lichfield Bower with a number of acts previewing the event in a the Fringe Music Tent at Beacon Park. Among those performing are Nath Brooks, Chloe Whitelaw and The Superstars Academy.”
