Investigations into the cause of a fire involving 5,000 tonnes of waste in Lichfield.
Around 65 firefighters have spent the night tackling the blaze at the former GKN site on the Crossfield Industrial Estate.
At the height of the fire crews from Stafford, Uttoxeter, Hanley, Tamworth, Lichfield, Codsall and Chase Terrace were involved in tackling the flames.
Glynn Luznyj from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters have made excellent progress overnight and remain at the scene this morning, working hard to fully extinguish the fire.
“A multi-agency group has been on site overnight working together to mitigate the impacts of the incident on surrounding areas including road and rail infrastructure and the businesses adjacent to the building.
“We are still advising local people to keep windows and doors closed, due to the smoke, as a precaution.”
Three fire engines are currently at the incident and an the service says an investigation into the cause of the fire will begin this morning.
