Three staff from a Burntwood company are taking part in a fundraising walk with the aim of raising £2,500 for charity.
The trio from Chasetown-based Cameron Homes will take on the Mighty Cotswold Hike challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Secretary Liz Fernihough, buyer Karen Meades and design and planning manager Emma MacDonald will be joining hundreds of other people for the 26-mile trek across Gloucestershire.
“This is a great event which aims to raise thousands of pounds for a vital cause. – we are really looking forward to it,” said Karen, from Lichfield, who started raising money for Cancer Research over a decade ago after having the disease.
Liz, who lives in Fradley, explained that she was taking part in the walk on July 22 to raise vital funds towards finding a cure for cancer, adding that their team target was £2,500 and they had collected £1,900 so far.
“Cancer effects far too many of us and destroys lives. Without fundraising and working towards treatments the outcome could have been different for so many people I know,” she said.
Sutton Coldfield resident Emma said that the three colleagues had all been following a training programme in order to prepare for the gruelling walk and were now looking for more sponsors.
She added: “This is a beautiful marathon trek along the stunning Cotswold Way but there are lots of hills along the route so we are already in training.
“We are doing lots of long walks to make sure that we can cover that distance in one day and already have bruised toe nails and aching limbs!”
