People are being invited to go behind the scenes at Lichfield Community Fire Station.

An open day on Wednesday (August 2) will give visitors the chance to get a tour of the new facilities, meet the crew and see them in action from 3pm until 7pm.

The day will include a road traffic collision demonstration from the crew and first responders, as well as a chance to see the firefighter’s wearing breathing apparatus as part of an exercise.

Visitors can find out more about the Firefighters Charity, have a go on the tombola and meet Welephant.

Station Manager Ruth Watchorn-Rice said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the community into the station and showing them all the facilities we have on offer to them.

“It is always great to have an opportunity to show residents what we do and how we can support them, not just by responding to incidents but by preventing them.

“It is really important to us a service to interact with the communities we serve and I hope to see a lot of our residents there.”
