Lichfield gig ready to transport audiences back to The Flamingo club

The sounds of an iconic sixties music venue will be recreated in Lichfield when the Guildhall welcomes Ricky Cool and the In Crowd.

The Lichfield Arts gig takes place on September 15 and will feature rhythm and blues and Jamaican Groovers just as it was in the ‘all-nighter’ hey-day of The Flamingo club.

Opened as a modern jazz club in the 1950s, The Flamingo soon became famous for its Friday and Saturday all night sessions. As well as being a home for the burgeoning Mod scene of early sixties, it also boasted a cosmopolitan clientele.

Lichfield Arts artistic director Chris Newcombe said: “Ricky Cool and The In Crowd have built a reputation for presenting a hugely entertaining show.

“Be prepared for a great evening’s entertainment, recreating the atmosphere of a celebrated music venue. You can sit back and enjoy the show or get involved and dance.”

Tickets are available now from 01543 262223 or by visiting the Lichfield Arts website.
