Drivers in Lichfield and Burntwood warned as Met Office says 65mph winds are on the way

Drivers are being warned to take extra care across Lichfield and Burntwood after a warning of high wind was issued.

The Met Office says gusts of up to 65mph could blow across the region, causing a danger of falling trees and branches.

The warning covers the period from 8pm today (September 12) through to 10am tomorrow.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet support member for highways and transport Helen Fisher said: “High winds have been forecast across the county overnight and so we’re reminding people to take extra care if they’re out on the roads.

“There is the potential for branches to be down and other debris blown into the road causing an obstruction. Our highways teams will be ready to respond to any issues throughout the night.”
