Wade Street in Lichfield city centre will be host to a new St Giles Hospice furniture store from September 28.

To mark the milestone, local businesses and organisations are being asked to show their support by wearing orange.

The charity’s head of retail Lynwen Truesdale said: “We are absolutely delighted to be opening our 30th shop in Lichfield just a few minutes away from where we opened our first shop more than 30 years ago.

“It would be great to see the centre of Lichfield go orange for the day to raise awareness not only of the new shop, but of St Giles’s new logo and the work we do.

“We are keen to make people aware just how St Giles can help, whether that’s supporting with care at the hospice or in the community, working with families, young people and schools through our Phoenix charity or our community engagement programme in partnership with local organisations.”

Furniture sales at other sites have already helped St Giles raise more than £1million.

Lynwen added: “Our stores selling furniture perform incredibly well and raise thousands of pounds every month to help people living with potentially incurable illnesses in the local community.

“We are hoping the new Lichfield shop will do the same because as a charity the demand for our services is growing and we estimate there are a further 1,000 people in the area who could benefit from our help.

“And recycling furniture through our shops not only helps use to raise funds, but it also benefits the environment by reducing the amount of waste which goes into landfill.

“So if you are downsizing, clearing a house or just changing your furniture, please get in touch, we are always incredibly grateful for your support.”
