Late agony for Chasetown FC as Alvechurch steal all three points

There was late heartbreak for Chasetown FC as Alvechurch came from behind to win.

Things started well for The Scholars and they took the lead after 15 minutes. Callum Lovatt was fouled just outside the area and Will Whieldon curled a beautiful free kick past goalkeeper Lewis Gwilliams.

Whieldon almost added a second with a right foot shot that stung the gloves of the Alvechurch keeper.

The home side almost equalised when a long ball from Jamie Ashmore found Josh March and his looping header struck the top of the crossbar.

Whieldon was soon in the thick of the action again, getting on the end of a Muzzy Nduna backheel but Gwilliams saved superbly with his left leg.

In the final seconds of the half, Nduna was a whisker wide with a right foot shot that beat the keeper but also the post.

Jake Lovatt almost netted a header at the start of the second half as Chasetown again started brightly.

But Alvechurch levelled with 15 minutes left. Michael Williams conceded a free kick when he handled the ball and Jamie Willetts headed home at the second attempt.

There was worse to come though as in the 90th minute Alvechurch took the lead with a low March shot which beat Curtis Pond at his left hand post.
