Festive treat in store as John Kirkpatrick brings Carolling and Crumpets show to the Lichfield Guildhall

A festive musical treat is coming to the Lichfield Guildhall as John Kirkpatrick’s Carolling and Crumpets comes to the city.

Taking its title from a song telling the Nativity story from the point of view of the animals in the stable, this show is a heart-warming look at the timeless rituals found in the folklore and folk music of England at Midwinter.

The mysterious and murky goings-on in these magical songs of wassailing, wren-hunting, stirring the fire and incessant feasting all come dressed up in a glittering finery of toe-tapping tunes and cracking choruses.

Lichfield Arts’ artistic director Chris Newcombe said: “Our Christmas shows at the Guildhall have always been popular, with familiar songs and old stories, and where the more pagan aspects of the season are revealed beyond the tinsel that we always see.

“John Kirkpatrick is a world class melodeon and accordion player and is a fine host for what promises to be a veritable feast of festive good times.”

Tickets are £15 and can be booked online or by calling 01543 262223.
