A Lichfield boxer has landed himself a spot on the bill of a show being organised by legendary fighter Barry McGuigan.

Brad ‘The Blade’ Foster will take to the ring at the Leicester Arena on December 2 for a bout due to be screened live on Channel 5 and Spike.
The bill will be topped by Anthony Yigit who will defended his European super-lightweight title against Joe Hughes. Luke Watkins will also be putting his Commonwealth cruiserweight belt on the line against Mike Stafford.
“This is a massive opportunity,” said Foster. “You want to be boxing on big shows like this. There’s a chance it could be shown as part of the TV broadcast and if it is, then that’s a bonus.
“But whether I’m on TV or not, ‘Brad’s Barmy Army’ are sure to be out in force. Everywhere I go, I get great support. Everyone seems to enjoy themselves and I’m sure it will be another great night in Leicester.”
Foster has been unbeaten in all of his seven fights so far – something that helped him catch the eye of McGuigan.
“I’ve heard a lot about Brad,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to seeing him in action.”
The former Friary School pupil admits that while his friends and fans will be enjoying their night out at the fight, his boxing career means sport comes first.d
“My mates are always going to raves,” he said. “But I usually have to give it a miss. I do get out for a dance every now and then, but when I’m in camp, I can’t.
“I make sacrifices, like every other boxer does, because I’m convinced it will be worth it in the long run – I can see the bigger picture.
“I know that if I make sacrifices now, it will be worth it in the end.”
