The designer used the knowledge from her Masters degree in cognitive science at Birmingham City University to create the 18 Hour Heels design. They work by helping to create a better weight distribution – and have already received backing from a number of celebrities.

“It is fantastic to be recognised by the industry in this way,” said Shaherazad, who spent 10 years perfecting her designs. “It is amazing to have this opportunity to work with some of the top experts in the field and have your idea recognised.”

Shaherazad said the mentoring scheme would allow her to build the brand further.

Malcolm Collins, organiser of the Footwear Friends Awards, said: “The judges were particularly impressed with Shaherazad’s innovation in design, dedication in maintaining a British product and unique concept.”
