Lichfield City FC secure comfortable four-goal victory over Alvis

Lichfield City FC enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as they secured a 4-0 win over Alvis.

It didn’t take long for the hosts to break the deadlock with Dale Roberts heading home from a Daniel Griffiths corner.

Keeper Jon Clough had to be alert to keep City’s lead intact as he hung on to an Alvis shot.

Jordan Hunt and Ben Lund both fluffed goof chances as Lichfield looked to press home their advantage.

Griffiths was next to fire over the top as City ended the first half on top.

It didn’t take Lichfield long to set the tone in the second period once more as academy graduate Joe Speck slotted home after Griffiths’ effort had been kept out.

Things almost got better for Speck but the Alvis keeper was on hand to deny him a second and City a third.

Clough was still needing to be alert at the other end, saving well to preserve Lichfield’s two goal advantage.

City soon extinguished any hope of an Alvis come back as Griffiths fired a left-footed effort beyond the visiting keeper.

The impressive Speck was at the heart of the action for Lichfield’s fourth goal when he was denied by the keeper only for Josh Sedgley to fire home the loose ball.

Alvis struck the bar and were denied by a fine Clough save as they sought a late consolation, but it wasn’t to be as City held on for a 4-0 win.
