The annual Carols by Candlelight evening in Heroes Square returns on December 16 with musc from the Burton Salvation Army Band.

Visitors are also being invited to make a small donation and add their own ‘bauble’ to a memory tree in the Remembrance Centre over the Christmas period as a way to remember loved ones.

The arboretum is also launching Twelve Memorials for Twelve Days of Christmas talks. Running from Boxing Day until January 5,
the sessions allow visitors to hear a free 15 minute talk on selected locations around the Alrewas site.

Sarah Montgomery, managing director of the National Memorial Arboretum, said: “We always welcome lots of extra visitors in December when many families and friends get the chance to spend more time together.

“We hope that our varied programme of activities and events will provide inspiration for children and adults alike at this very special time of year.”

A collective noun to include this series of seasonal events in a singular descriptive word would be extremely useful.
