Mapped: Grit bins in Lichfield and Burntwood

Do you know if there is a grit bin near you? Well, with data provided by Staffordshire County Council, we’ve mapped the location of every single one in Lichfield and Burntwood.

The council has since issued a reminder that these grit bins are not designed for personal use and instead should only be used on public areas such as footpaths, bridges and roads.

Speaking earlier this week, Cllr Helen Fisher, Cabinet support member for highways and transport, reinforced that with the new snow, the focus will also be put on less major routes: “On a typical winter day we will be out largely on key A and B roads, but in prolonged ice or snow we will be pulling out all the stops to treat less major routes across the network.”

    There are two more that aren’t on this list that I know of:
    1 on the carpark behind Kwik Save and one adj. to 55 Wissage Road as the path goes up the footpath.

    Are there any more city-centre ones that people know about?

    The one where Minors Hill joins Quarry Hills Lane is missing also
