Bin backlog set to continue as Lichfield and Burntwood collections are called off for third day

The Lichfield and Burntwood bin backlog looks set to continue after collections were cancelled for a third day.

Lichfield District Council says roads are still too unsafe after the weekend’s winter weather.

A statement said the local authority hoped to catch up with collections over the next week.

“If we have missed your bins, please leave them out and we’ll do our best to empty the later this week and into next,” the council’s statement said. “We will also take away any side waste left by your bin.

“We will assess conditions first thing tomorrow morning (December 14)and will hopefully start with Monday’s missed rounds. Our first priority will be to collect any missed blue or black bins.

“Missed brown bins will be collected in the new year.”

Unless you haven’t paid their £36 fee, in which case you’re stuffed.

We’ve already asked Lichfield DC the question about whether they will waive the charge due to the delays – answer when we have it.
