Lichfield City FC dumped out of the Staffordshire Senior Cup by Hednesford Town

Lichfield City FC failed to pull off a shock at Hednesford Town in the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

The hosts looked the more dangerous from the off, with City keeper Jon Clough turning an early drive around the post before keeping out a header too.

But the breakthrough would eventually come on 19 minutes as Jordan Graham slotted home.

The second came ten minutes later when Danny Glover nodded home after a pinpoint cross into the box.

The break gave Lichfield a chance to regroup, but the Pitmen were in a ruthless mood and soon extended their lead when Louis Harris powered home.

City stemmed the tide until the 75th minute when Clough parried Glover’s shot, only to see James Lawrie net the loose ball.

Graham was sent tumbling in the Lichfield area to give Hednesford the chance to add a fifth – and Glover made no mistake from the resulting spot kick.
