First half goals enough to give Chasetown FC first win of 2018

Chasetown FC got the job done in the first half to secure their first three points of 2018.

The Scholars drew first blood after just ten minutes. Will Whieldon was brought down inside the penalty area and Jack Langston made amends for last week’s penalty miss by converting the spot kick.

The visitors immediately doubled their lead as Muzzy Nduna’s header came back off the crossbar and George Cater followed up to fire home from six yards.

In the 37th minute, Danny Cocks motored past James Askey and fired past Adam Alcock.

Cater was denied on the stroke of half time by a point blank save from Alcock.

Nduna and Whieldon combined in a tight area on the hour with the former dragging a shot inches wide of the post.

The second period wasn’t as fast flowing as the first half with Chasetown’s Matt Gardner having an effort blocked in the final minute.
