Three goals enough for Lichfield City FC to sink Pershore Town

Jamie Hawkins’ bright start in charge of Lichfield City FC continued with a 3-1 win over Pershore Town.

The Brownsfield Park side began on the front foot with Dan Thurstance test the visiting keeper early on.

The warning signs weren’t heeded by Pershore who found themselves behind when a free-kick was turned home by Chris Hanna.

The visitors saw their afternoon go from bad to worse as the keeper was forced off with an injury before seeing a second player forced off after a collision in midfield during the first half.

But Lichfield couldn’t afford to let their concentration lapse, with Adam Jenkins having to produce a good save with his feet to prevent Pershore from levelling.

The second half again saw City carve out the first opening as Drew Aiton volleyed over from a corner, before Jake Allen fired into the side-netting.

The all-important second goal did eventually come though when debutant Blake Archer forced a save out of the keeper and Daniel Sheppard was on hand to fire home the rebound.

The alarm bells rang though when Pershore hit back with a neat volley from a corner to reduce the deficit.

But Lichfield’s nerves were settled when Tom Green wrapped up the scoring with his side’s third goal.
