Second half strike not enough to salvage a point for Lichfield City FC

A late rally was not enough for Lichfield City FC as they went down 2-1 against Paget Rangers.

The visitors took just three minutes to open the scoring when Bobby Moseley rifled past Adam Jenkins in the City goal.

Lichfield midfielder Max Black came close to pulling his side level, but his strike was deflected wide of the target.

Paget almost doubled their advantage when Ross Dempster headed against the crossbar.

City were next to rattle the woodwork when Drew Aiton’s free-kick cannoned off the bar.

Lichfield started the second period the brighter of the two sides, with Aiton’s volley going wide.

But it was to be Paget who would strike the game’s decisive blow as Dean Morris powered home a free-kick from distance.

City continued to fight for a way back into the game and found it with 15 minutes left as Jordan Hunt fired home.

But despite halving the deficit there was to be no late leveller for Jamie Hawkins’ men.
