Lichfield art project celebrates fifth birthday with launch of new adult classes

A Lichfield art scheme is launching a new series of sessions.

Henhouse Art School was created in 2013 by local artists Celia Houghton and Henrietta Ellis.

They run classes for children and teenagers at the Tesco community room, but will be expanding with the creation of new Prosecco and a Paintbrush sessions at McKenzie’s restaurant in Lichfield city centre.

A spokesperson said: “Accompanied by a glass of prosecco, adults will create their own version of famous artwork by one of the great masters or a more contemporary one.

“They will take home their masterpiece on a canvas, framed or on a plinth ready to display.”

The sessions will feature:

  • February 28 – Monet’s Water Lilies in soft pastels
  • March 28 – Dufy in Watercolour
  • April 25 – Klimt’s Garden
  • May 23 – Lichtenstein’s Pop Art
  • June 27 – Seurat’s Pointillism
  • July 18 – Steven Brown’s Cows in oil pastels
  • September 26 – Keith Haring’s Street/Pop Art
  • October 24 – Matisse’s Cut-outs
