Creative youngsters mark Valentine’s Day at Lichfield pre-school

Love is in the air at a Lichfield pre-school where children have been getting creative when talking about their heart’s desires.

Youngsters at Jack & Jill’s Preschool have been learning about Valentine’s Day and staff have found it interesting to hear what the children love most.

While mummy and daddy rank high in the children’s affections, so do pets, dolls, teddies and favourite toys.

All of the 54 children have revealed where their affections lie by writing them down on paper Valentine’s hearts.

Preschool manager Claire Thompson said: “It is lovely that the first thoughts the children had when talking about what they loved most in the world it was the people close to them.

“When they thought about what made them happy we saw them talking about friends, pets, toys and even their favourite foods.

“Children have been hearing the words ‘I love you’ from those close to them for years now and so they understand the feelings and actions associated with those words.”
