A man has suffered a fractured eye socket in an unprovoked attack in Lichfield.

He was walking home outside Pavilion Court on Beacon Street between 11.45pm on February 9 and 12.15am the following morning when the incident happened.

The victim was returning from the King’s Head pub when he was attacked from behind.

He suffered a fractured left eye socket and heavy bruising to the face, neck and lower body.

PC Michael Brewster said: “This was a particularly vicious assault that appears to have been completely unprovoked and committed against a vulnerable man who had spent an enjoyable evening with friends prior to the incident. He has been deeply affected by what has happened to him.

“We are appealing for any witnesses, in particular any person who may have called for an ambulance or found the victim lying on the floor shortly after the attack, to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 25 of the 14 February.
