Meeting to make decision on proposals to reduce size of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee

Proposals to reduce the size of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee could be approved this evening (February 20).

A report earlier this year had suggested slashing the size of the panel from 22 to 15 members.

It outlined that smaller committees were now considered best practice and could help the council improve its performance on major planning appeals, which it admitted were still “well below” the national average.

A meeting of Lichfield District Council this evening will make a final decision on the proposals.

Smaller Planning Committees have been ‘best practice” for decades. It was only Lichfield Council that had all their 56 members on the Planning Committees until relative recently.
