Reports claim jobs could be at risk at the Lichfield Mercury

A number of jobs could be at risk at the Lichfield Mercury newspaper.

A report from industry news site Holdthefrontpage says 19 editorial roles at the Tamworth centre – where the Mercury is produced – are at risk as part of a move to cut 49 editorial brands across the Trinity Mirror network.

The move follows a decision to consume the newspaper’s website into the Birmingham Mail’s rebranded Birmingham Live online site.

I’m guessing it’s all down to traditional physical print media being unable to compete with the internet where news and information are received and updated 24/7
