Funding available for communities in Lichfield and Burntwood to help make roads safer

Communities in Lichfield and Burntwood are being invited to apply for funding to help improve road safety in their area.

The Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership is offering grants of up to £5,000.

The money could be spent on setting up speed watch groups or activities with local children to raise awareness of road safety.

Cllr Mark Deaville, from Staffordshire County Council, said: “We have some of the safest roads in the country which is something we are proud of and have worked hard to achieve, but we are always looking at creative ways of making our roads safer and this scheme gives local communities the chance to make a real positive difference in their neighbourhoods.

“We would really encourage groups to apply for a grant and the more creative ideas the better. Working together we can help make our roads even safer.”

The window for funding applications opens on March 1 and runs until April 14. More details about applying are available online.
