A new Lichfield event will give people the chance to support local causes.

The first ever Lichfield Soup micro funding event will take place at Curborough Community Centre on Saturday (March 3).

The soup events first began in the USA and see people pay £5 for their entry and bowl of soup at the meeting. They then hear pitches from local groups who are bidding to win a share of the admission fee for projects they hope to run.

Organiser Steve Lightfoot said: “Anyone who is interested can come along for a bowl of soup, a chat and vote for the community group they would like to see the money raised go to.

“It’s fun, simple and friendly way of supporting good causes in Lichfield.”

Steve added that the first soup has been organised in memory of Kim Wilkins, who was the manager of Curborough Community Centre for many years and had wanted to see such an event happen.

The Lichfield Soup takes place at 11.30am.

For more information or if your good cause is interested in pitching, contact Steve Lightfoot on 07590 607914.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your interest in this, but we are going to have to postpone it. The weather is difficult for everyone. Thanks for your patience. Best wishes. Steve
