The rudest puppets in showbiz are headed for the city as musical comedy hit Avenue Q comes to the Garrick, courtesy of Lichfield Operatic Society.
Winner of the Tony Triple Crown for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, this ‘part flesh, part felt’ musical is set in New York City. Inspired by the beloved children’s show Sesame Street, this adult-only production creates a puppet-filled world where puppets and humans are friends, monsters are good and life lessons are learned as the characters face the difficult and X-rated realities of modern day life.
Director James Pugh said: “It is safe to say that if you are an adult with a good sense of humour, then Avenue Q will be right up your street.
“The story takes us through the difficulties of finding your feet in the world. There are plenty of hilarious ‘educational’ musical moments along the way including Everyone’s A Little Bit Racist, I’m Not Wearing Underwear Today and everybody’s favourite, The Internet Is For Porn.”
Filled with humour and a catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a unique show that has become a favourite for audiences everywhere.
The show runs from May 8 to 12. Tickets are for the show, which is not suitable for under 16s, are available from the Garrick website or by calling the box office on 01543 412121.
