Fundraising by Lichfield and Burntwood nursery business helps charity create book for bereaved children

A book designed to support bereaved children under five has been launched, thanks to a partnership between a bereavement charity and a nursery business based in Lichfield and Burntwood.

Never Too Young to Grieve is aimed at people who support youngsters during and after the loss of a parent or carer.

It has been produced by the Winston’s Wish charity following a £90,000 fundraising effort by Busy Bees nurseries.

Fergus Crow, CEO of Winston’s Wish, said: “Busy Bees’ support has been vital to the creation of the book and we thank them for their dedicated fundraising.

“The book provides powerful guidance to family members, practitioners and all carers supporting children under five during the difficult time after a loved one has died. With the right support at the right time bereaved children can lead full and flourishing lives.”

The book can be purchased online.

Marg Randles, co-founder and chief academic officer of Busy Bees Childcare, said: “It’s a sad fact of life that occasionally children will lose a parent, carer or someone special in their life and adults often feel uncertain on how to properly support children, to know what to say and when to say it.

“I am sure that this book will support everyone and will have a positive impact on the lives of young children experiencing bereavement. Winston’s Wish does incredible work and we’re so pleased to have supported them.”
