Chasetown FC see play-off hopes hit by defeat at Bedworth United

Chasetown FC stumbled in their bid to secure a play-off berth after defeat at Bedworth United.

The battle between the two sides began with a dusting of snow on the pitch and very poo visibility.

But the hosts took the lead in the 26th minute when they won a penalty and Alex Troke sent Curtis Pond the wrong way from 12 yards.

It was a feisty affair at times with plenty at stake, but clear-cut chances were of a premium at either end.

Bedworth doubled their lead 15 minutes from time when a corner ricocheted through the visiting defence and Jamie McAteer stabbed the ball home.

Chasetown struggled to find a way back into the game with a solitary Will Whieldon effort late on the only shot the Scholars registered on target.
