Lichfield mum half way through marathon challenge for diabetes charity

A Lichfield mum is half way to completing a charity challenge to run ten marathons in a year.

Jayne Whitehouse, aged 43, has so far raised over £1,600 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which is a charity researching to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.

Her daughter Faith, aged 13, has had the condition since she was just a toddler.

Now Jayne, who works as a legal secretary at Lichfield law firm Keelys, has hit the half way mark for the challenge she has called 10 for 10.

“My fourth marathon was in Worcester and I completed Portsmouth in December – and ran a personal best time in January in Gloucester,” she said. “The big one is London on April 22, so all is going well and to plan.”

Jayne has kept to her plan to ensure she is in tip top condition, and is running four times a week – even when the winter weather has attempted to disrupt her plans.

“It has been a very tough winter,” Jayne said. “But luckily I’m being spurred on by so many people and that helps greatly.”

Her marathon challenge will finish close to home with the Birmingham Marathon in late 2018.
