Lichfield District Council insists it has made improvements as Beacon Park prepares to host another series of outdoor cinema screenings.
The city will again play host to drive-in movies with showings of The Italian Job on May 12 Dirty Dancing on May 19.
They will be followed by Top Gun on August 10 and Pretty Woman on August 11.
Councillor Iain Eadie, Cabinet member for leisure, said the organisers had learned from some of the teething problems of last year’s screening of Grease.
“The atmosphere at last year’s drive-in movie was great with people getting dressed up and really getting into the spirit of the film,” he said. “We did have some issues with getting cars in on the night, which is why we’re opening the gates earlier and have improved the process for how we will marshal the cars in.
“By doing this, it should also give audience members a chance to enjoy a day in the park and some time in Lichfield.
“We’ve chosen two hugely popular movies for our May screenings that have cult followings, so if you love car chases with minis and Italian scenery, as well as dancing, watermelons and lines, including ‘Nobody puts Baby in the corner,’ then these two drive-ins are definitely for you.”
Tickets for the drive-in movies are £25 per car or £5 on foot. To book call 01543 412121 or visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com.
