Thanking Samantha Beech, chairperson of Lichfield Ladies Tangles, for their donation, Peter said the money would be used to buy essential materials forvolunteers to continue the restoration of the Heritage Towpath Trail on a number of sites through Lichfield.

He also invited the ladies to walk along the completed sections of the Heritage Towpath Trail and said he looked forward to meeting them on the Lichfield Canal.

LHCRT received another cash boost from an all-day Easter coffee morning held at the home of Eric Wood, the trust’s president.

Almost £1,300 raised from donations plus barbecue, book and bric-a-brac sales will go towards the £1million Tunnel Vision campaign to raise money to construct a tunnel under the cross city line at the same time as a railway bridge over the planned extension of the Southern Bypass is put in place, probably late next year.
