A new Lichfield fundraising event has secured extra money for a local scout group.
The first ever Lichfield Soup microfunding event took place at Curborough Community Centre over the weekend.
The soup events first began in the USA and see people pay £5 for their entry and bowl of soup at the meeting. They then hear pitches from local groups who are bidding to win a share of the admission fee for projects they hope to run.
The inaugural event in the city saw Explorer Scouts pitch for their trip to the USA for a jamboree, and attendees voted to award them the £65 pot of funding to help reach their target.
Organiser Steve Lightfoot said, “I’m pleased with how the first Lichfield Soup went, and happy to see Explorer Scouts get closer to their target to fund their amazing trip to the USA for a jamboree.”
