Play-off chasing Chasetown FC added a point to their tally at Sheffield FC.

The visitors were a whisker away from the lead when a Jimmy O’Neill header was superbly saved by Jamie Ingham.

Julian Lawrence had a lucky escape for the hosts as his header came back off his own crossbar.

In an end to end first quarter, Sheffield created two chances themselves, the nearest from Waide Fairhurst which was an inch wide of the upright.

The Scholars kept the pressure on and two more O’Neill headers were blocked by defenders.

Eventually the pressure told and Ingham could only parry a Jack Langston shot into the path of George Cater who fired home the rebound.

The visitors almost added a second when Cater broke quickly and Ingham saved well into the path of Nick Wellecomme and then palmed wide from the Chase number nine.

Sheffield equalised against the run of play. A thrown in was hooked into the path of Jamie Yates who struck a first time effort that flew past Curtis Pond.

Langston had a chance to win it late on but fired a shot into the side netting from the edge of the area.
