Lichfield Rugby Club has drawn up plans to extend its clubhouse and create a rooftop terrace. The Myrtle Greens are seeking planning permission for the single-storey extension. Formed in 1874, the club currently caters for players from the ages of six and up and has been based at Cooke Fields since 1984. A statement supporting the application said: “The club has always been immensely proud of its reputation for providing excellent quality facilities, both on and off the pitch. “Now the club needs to be able to expand their off-field operations to continue to provide a venue that can both provide an attractive environment for current members, visitors and guests, as well as support thew future expansion of the community across Lichfield.” The new extension will be built on the existing patio area and offer an improved viewing area for members and sponsors, which the club hopes will boost revenue opportunities. Full details of the proposals can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
