The race on June 10 kicks off with a swim at Chasewater, before the 2,500 athletes take on a 56 mile bike course and a 13.1 mile run in Stafford.

Volunteers are needed to act as marshals along the course, as well as assisting at the start of the swim and in the transition areas between disciplines.

Cllr Mark Winnington, Cabinet member for economic growth said: “Volunteers really are part of the fabric of Ironman, with hundreds of people giving up their time freely to help out, whether it’s handing out water to athletes, helping them out over the finish line, or making sure the race goes smoothly.”
