A Lichfield schoolgirl has added another Irish dancing title to her collection.
Heidi Hawkes won the Under 10 Championship at the Tierney Feis in Leeds over the weekend.
It comes just after a week after the St Joseph’s RC Primary School student claimed two titles in Portsmouth.
Heidi, who dances for the Kidd School in Birmingham, took top marks with all three adjudicators at the Leeds competition – an achievement she also managed when being crowned Midlands Regional Champion in November.
The result is the latest success for the 10-year-old who has also been part of a ceili team that won the Great Britain Championships in 2017 before going on to finish eighth in the 2018 World Championships in Glasgow – a competition where she was too young to compete as a solo dancer.
Heidi’s mum Emma said: “It’s been a great 12 months for Heidi and all of her hard work is really paying off.
“She loves her Irish dancing and the teachers at the Kidd School have been brilliant in helping her achieve what she has done.”
Heidi will now compete at the British National Championships in Southport later this summer as she bids to qualify for the 2019 World Championships, which will be held in North Carolina in the USA.
