The Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire Ian James Dudson was among the guests for the event organised by Lichfield Cathedral School.

Headteacher Susan Hannam said: “We were delighted to hold this celebratory event in Lichfield Cathedral – over 250 young people from schools across the Midlands attended.

“It marks the conclusion of this extensive programme, geared to stimulate interest among youngsters in science and engineering.”

Students aged from 9 to 11 took part in workshops, while youngsters aged from 11 to 14 designed, built and programmed a robot vehicle before being awarded prizes by a panel of judges.
