Free tea and buns will be on offer at Chapters in Cathedral Close from 10am to 4pm today (July 5) for all NHS workers, before a special service of thanksgiving at 5.30pm.

The Dean of Lichfield, the Very Revd Adrian Dorber said: “Seventy years ago after the devastation of war, Nye Bevin brought into being a health service that would provide cradle to grave care for every citizen of this country irrespective of wealth or class. Its popularity from day one, has never been in doubt.

“It is a vital part of the fabric of our nation and a practical means of our care and concern for one another.

“Although the NHS faces terrible financial challenges just now, it is good to see national Government showing commitment to long-term financial underpinning of the service .

“It is one of the few things people are willing to pay more taxes for, and we are delighted to celebrate all the NHS has been and will be, and the people who make it so.”

The Dean of Lichfield, the Very Tory Adrian Dorber, what the hell, it reads like a party political broadcast!

“Although the NHS faces terrible financial challenges just now, it is good to see national Government showing commitment to long-term financial underpinning of the service .
“It is one of the few things people are willing to pay more taxes for”

Er, no, they crippled the NHS with cuts and have managed to outsource most of it, and if the government actually collected taxes owed to it, we would be £35 Billion a year better off straight away, we wouldnt have to raise taxes on the Church of Englands Lichfield Diocese “flock”.

As i posted about NHS 70 Birthday cards from Lichfield, just more tory propaganda to soften us all up to increasing taxes, by the party of “low taxes”

and finally for Adrian “We cant feed 5000 people it would only create dependency” (Tory Jesus)
