Drayton Manor’s mystic meerkats tip England to topple Sweden at World Cup

It’s coming home – well, at least according to the ‘mystic meerkats’.

Drayton Manor Park’s animals have once again made their predictions for the 2018 FIFA World Cup ahead of England’s quarter-final with Sweden.

And after backing them to beat Colombia, they’ve also tipped Gareth Southgate’s men to see off their Scandinavian foes.

The meerkats have been making their choices by pushing a ball of mealworms towards miniature goals.

Chris Mitchell, head of zoo operations at Drayton Manor Park, said: “Our mystic meerkats have certainly kept us on our toes with their predictions in this year’s FIFA World Cup.

“They have thoroughly enjoyed the animal enrichment, their moment in the spotlight and the extra public attention.

“We were delighted to witness the meerkats predict an England win against Sweden, a result the Drayton Manor team are all hoping for.

“We can’t help but wonder if our meerkat mob might be England’s lucky charm this year?”
