Business gives 10k runners a boost as they bid to raise funds for Lichfield Canal restoration project

A group of Lichfield 10k runners raising money for the city’s canal restoration trust will look the part thanks to local business.

Design and print agency Raphael Design has helped get the athletes off to a great start by supplying their running vests.

The six runners are taking on the challenge of competing in the Lichfield 10k on September 9 to raise money for the £1m canal tunnel planned by Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust (LHCRT) to go under the cross city railway line near Birmingham Road.

The funds must be raised by 2019 to ensure that the work goes ahead at the same time as the southern bypass tunnel.

Trust volunteers Harry and Chris, and supporters Scott, James, Mark and Heath will now be running in LHCRT logo vests thanks to Clare and Pete Lubrano from Raphael Design.

Clare said: “It is our pleasure to help out. Good luck to the six runners in their preparations for Lichfield 10k.

“We hope lots of money gets raised for the Tunnel Vision Appeal.”

Christine Howles, LHCRT communications director, said: “We’d like to give a huge thank you to Clare and Pete from Raphael Design for supplying the vests, as well as to our athletes.

“Not only are our athletes raising vital funds for the canal tunnel but they are also raising awareness about our work, and the vests from Raphael Design will be a big help.”
