The Tesco Express store on Birmingham Road was targeted at 7am this morning (July 18).

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Two offenders who were in possession of knives entered the shop and forced a lone staff member to open one of the tills.

“They stole cash and cigarettes before running from the store, turning right in the direction of Park Lane or Churchill Road.”

Both were described as very slim, around 5ft 5ins or 5ft 6ins tall, dressed all in black with hoods up and wearing face masks and gloves. One was carrying a multi-coloured woven Bag for Life.

Any witnesses or anyone with CCTV footage is asked to call 101 and quote incident number 99 of 18 July.

  1. Must have been such a shocking and upsetting experience for the staff.

Sadly, unless they have left their names and addresses, there is very little chance anyone will ever be charged.
