Strong Chasetown FC line-up gets the better of Heath Hayes in latest pre-season clash

A strong Chasetown FC line-up secured a comfortable pre-season victory over Heath Hayes.

Danny Cocks netted after just two minutes when a burst of pace took him beyond the defender and he drilled a low shot home.

Joe Thomas struck the post and Jake Lovatt had a goal ruled out for the tightest of offsides as the visitors dominated.

It was a bizarre goal that gave Chasetown a 2-0 lead though. The Hayes keeper pulled off a great stop to deny Ryan Wynter, but when Cocks fired a low shot goalwards the keeper assumed the ball was going wide and was stunned to see it trickle inside his post.

Nick Wellecomme was on at the interval and added a third goal, before the Scholars netted a deserved fourth when Ryan Stewart’s cross was turned in off the post by Liam Bood.
