A site manager with a Burntwood building firm has been named as one of the best in the country.
Leigh Hartshorne, who works at Cameron Homes, is one of only 350 people to win a quality award for excellence in on-site management from around 16,000 site managers across the UK.
He has received a Pride in the Job accolade from the National House Building Council, which has been running the awards scheme for almost 40 years.
Leigh, 30, who lives in Burntwood, joined the company after leaving school 14 years ago and has since worked his way up through the ranks. He received recognition for his management of the Austen Grange development in Hill Ridware.
“I want to thank all my site team, office team and sub contractors who have contributed to the success of the development, my family for their support during the time I have spent achieving my quality award and Cameron Homes for backing me throughout my career,” he said.
“The hard work is not over yet as hopefully we may be able to achieve the next level in the awards programme, which is the seal of excellence.”
Chief operations officer of Cameron Homes, Paul Morrissey, said that site managers had to go through several rounds of rigorous inspections at various stages of the development being built.
“Leigh has worked tremendously hard to develop his on-site team and reach the exacting standards required,” he said. “The achievement is well-deserved.”
