Chasetown FC beaten by West Bromwich Albion XI in pre-season encounter

Chasetown FC produced a promising pre-season performance as they went down 2-1 to a West Bromwich Albion XI.

Experienced Baggies stopper Boaz Myhill – who only returned to the club this week – gifted the Scholars an early lead after a mis-kick saw the ball trickle into the net.

Spencer Gunnell went close to doubling Chasetown’s advantage from a corner before a youthful Albion line-up started to find their way into the game.

Curtis Pond twice produced strong saves to keep his side in front at the interval.

But the second half saw Albion find a leveller from Dara O’Shea, before Jamie Soule netted a winner for the Championship side.
