A £6,000 grant is aiming to help improve football provision for girls in Lichfield.

The money has been awarded to Lichfield City FC by the Football Foundation.

The grant has paved the way for four new teams from under 8 to under 12 to be set up, as well as allowing up to eight new coaches to achieve their coaching badges.

Matt Minton, junior section treasurer at Lichfield City FC, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Football Foundation and Staffordshire FA for their continued support in the development of the girls section at our club.

“The financial support received will enable us to provide the new teams with fully qualified coaches, new kits and the additional goals and equipment required that may otherwise have been too expensive for us to obtain.

“This means we can offer the opportunity for a lot of local girls – who previously didn’t have a pathway to follow – to train and play matches weekly throughout the season.”

Anyone young footballers keen to join the club can contact Matt on 07815122541.
